Early one winter morning, Officer Micha Ash of the Atlanta Police Department (APD) was driving home at the end of his shift when he observed a house on fire. Without hesitation, he exited his vehicle, ran up to the house, and began to shout and bang on the front door to alert the residents inside. Once the residents opened the door, they were shocked to learn about the blaze. As the fire began to rapidly consume the front porch, Officer Ash quickly evacuated the residents through their back door.

Officer Ash was then informed that one of the family cats was missing and potentially trapped inside the burning home. He then reentered the house in hopes of locating the missing animal just in time to notice it running outside to safety. Due to Officer Ash's quick thinking and heroic actions, there were no reported injuries to the residents or their beloved pets. His timely and selfless actions not only saved lives but also highlighted the importance of community service and the dedication of the APD’s officers.
