The Perryville, Maryland, Police Department patch—a white oval with blue lettering and red stars—bears across the center a golden banner declaring the town’s establishment in 1882. Depicted on the patch is historical Rogers Tavern, where George Washington once spent the night. Perryville is located on the Susquehanna River and near the Chesapeake Bay, both of which appear on the patch, along with native waterfowl the great blue heron and mallard. Also known as a historic hub of railroad activity, the town has several rail stations located along the river, represented by a train and a rail bridge.
