Bulletin Notes
Law enforcement officers are challenged daily in the performance of their duties; they face each challenge freely and unselfishly while answering the call to duty. In certain instances, their actions warrant special attention from their respective departments. The Bulletin also wants to recognize those situations that transcend the normal rigors of the law enforcement profession.
Officer Kevin Minor of the St. Louis County, Missouri, Police Department was on duty when he responded to a call of smoke in an apartment complex. Arriving at the scene, he determined the apartment from which the smoke was emanating and forced his way into the building. Inside he found an elderly man lying on the floor having difficulty breathing. The man was a double leg amputee and could not exit the residence on his own. Officer Minor carried the man out of the apartment as paramedics arrived to administer first aid and transport the victim to a nearby hospital. Thanks to Officer Minor’s quick response, the man survived his ordeal.

Nominations for the Bulletin Notes should be based on either the rescue of one or more citizens or arrest(s) made at unusual risk to an officer’s safety. Submissions should include a short write-up (maximum of 250 words), a separate photograph of each nominee, and a letter from the department’s ranking officer endorsing the nomination.
