The shoulder patch of the Metro Special Police Department in Washington, D.C.

The patch of the Metro Special Police Department in Washington, D.C., has as its primary colors gold, red, white, and navy blue. In the center is the U.S. Capitol building, which is shrouded in white and cast with a black shadow. This represents the constant battle between good and evil and recognizes law enforcement’s important role. Two gold oak leaf clusters over the top of the Capitol building represent “to protect and serve.” On both sides of the patch are three red stars, emblematic of the city’s flag.
