In the foreground, the “Queen of the Beaches” sits on her throne, scepter in hand, with the California golden bear at her feet. A horn of plenty pours forth various fruit and other products while the perpetual sunshine lights the heavens. The mountains, sea, ship, and auditorium typify a convention city.
A lighthouse, breakwater, and docks symbolize the harbor, and the ship represents commerce of the seven seas. As shown by the locomotive, rail transportation reaches the water’s edge. Factories, refineries, and oil also feature. The graceful, fluted edges of the outer shell represent the action in the city.
