The patch of the Minnetonka, Minnesota, Police Department is dark blue with a silver outline and has an arrowhead as its focus. Established in 1959, the agency is situated on land that was once sacred ground for Native Americans. The city’s name means “great water” in the language of the Dakota Sioux, one of the tribes that lived in and frequently traveled through the area. According to the Sioux community, the arrowhead symbolizes courage and bravery.
