The patch of the Somerset County, New Jersey, Police Academy projects the traditional color blue, representative of law enforcement in the state, and is augmented by gold, for excellence. In the middle is a faceless figure of a drill instructor, one who mentors others while demonstrating unparalleled and continually challenging standards. A golden laurel wreath signifies honor and distinction for the excellence shown by the instructor. The academy motto, “A Matter of Pride,” represents the standards of the institution and its instructors, staff, and graduates.
