The shoulder patch of the Onondaga County, New York, Sheriff’s Office.

The Onondaga County, New York, Sheriff’s Office patch features a seven-point star. “Onondaga” originates from the indigenous Iroquois nation that once inhabited the region. At the center of the patch is the New York State seal. A red banner across the bottom marks the agency’s year of formation — 1794. Many of the founding members of the department were veterans of the American Revolution.
