California Highway Patrol Memorial Fountain

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Memorial Fountain is located at the heart of the CHP Academy in Sacramento. The memorial resembles the CHP star-shaped badge with an eagle in the center. The fountain is encircled by brass plaques engraved with the names of fallen officers. Every Wednesday CHP cadets polish each individual name plaque. On the day after a CHP officer is killed in the line of duty, a fellow officer rings a memorial bell. This signifies the end of watch for the deceased officer. The encased bell stands next to a row of flags at the rear of the memorial. Every year in May, a service is held in front of the fountain to honor the fallen heroes.
