Delaware County Law Enforcement Memorial
A group of officers who recognized the need to memorialize the fallen officers of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, established the Delaware County Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation in 1998. The memorial is dedicated to the brave men and women who walked the line between the just and the unjust with honor and freedom and gave all so that others may live in peace and freedom. The foundation secured land at Rose Tree Park for the memorial, which was dedicated in 2002. The design centers on the symbolic officer with the logo “We Remember” etched into the badge. Around the center is a reflective garden surrounded by a memorial wall and a walkway that spirals out of the memorial past a marble monument dedicated to all of the fallen officers. On the wall, the officers are represented by stainless steel, scroll-shaped stanchions that surround those inside the memorial, providing a sense of unity and ensuring that visitors never feel alone.
The FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin seeks submissions from agencies that wish to have their memorials featured in the magazine’s Bulletin Honors department. Needed materials include a short description, a photograph, and an endorsement from the agency’s ranking officer. Submissions can be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to Editor, FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin, FBI Academy, Quantico, VA 22135.
