Idaho Peace Officers’ Memorial

The Idaho Peace Officers’ Memorial, located in Meridian, was dedicated on May 15, 1998. The memorial stands in a grassy field in front of the Idaho State Headquarters Building, eight miles from Boise. A massive five-point badge laid in a red brick walkway surrounds the memorial. The focal point of the monument is the center of the star where three sandstone boulders stand. The center boulder has a soaring eagle and the words “Blessed are the Peace Makers” inscribed on it. It has an opening below the inscription where water flows out in a small waterfall onto a stone pathway. The other two boulders contain plaques with the names of fallen officers. The memorial was constructed to recognize the sacrifices of those officers who have given their lives in the line of duty for the citizens of Idaho. It provides a place of solace for families of these fallen officers and also honors those who currently serve as peace officers.
