Minnesota Peace Officers Memorial, St. Paul
The Minnesota Peace Officers Memorial, which pays tribute to 270 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, is located in St. Paul, at the base of the State Capital Mall. It originally was situated inside the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport from 1977 until 1997, when changes in airport security required that it be relocated. A highlight of the monument is a water feature that incorporates the outline of the state of Minnesota in granite. Water cascades down all four sides, and a thin blue line that is constantly illuminated runs from the base of the memorial grounds to the actual monument. The Peace Officers Memorial features the phrase “Blessed are the peacekeepers, for they shall be called the children of God.”
The FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin seeks submissions from agencies that wish to have their memorials featured in the magazine’s Bulletin Honors department. Needed materials include a short description, a photograph, and an endorsement from the agency’s ranking officer. Submissions can be e-mailed to leb@ic.fbi.gov or mailed to Editor, FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin, FBI Academy, Quantico, VA 22135.
