Bulletin Notes

Law enforcement officers are challenged daily in the performance of their duties; they face each encounter freely and unselfishly while answering the call to duty. In certain instances, their actions warrant special attention from their respective departments. The Bulletin also wants to recognize those situations that transcend the normal rigors of the law enforcement profession.

Early one morning, Officers Julia Quinlan and Tyler Williams of the Camillus, New York, Police Department responded to a structure fire. Arriving quickly at the scene, the officers worked diligently to vacate the complex. While in one of the apartments during the rescue, Officer Quinlan noticed the ceiling collapsing and alerted Officer Williams of the danger — both narrowly escaped. All residents — a total of 19 — were successfully evacuated without injury and accounted for. The fire severely damaged the complex before it was eventually extinguished.
